Here are some of the most spectacular spots to see while traveling to Africa:

1. The Great Migration, Tanzania.

A photograph cannot depict the thunder of hooves on soil as more than a million wildebeest and several hundred thousand zebra undertake their yearly migration, but this one is at the top of the list.

The migration is truly year-round, with the animals moving from Tanzania's Ngorongoro Reserve in January, up through the Serengeti in June, and into Kenya's Masai Mara in September, before returning south.

2. Table Mountain, South Africa.

Table Mountain transforms Cape Town, one of the world's greatest seaside towns, into one of the most photogenic.

Cable car trips to the top of the mesa are available, providing spectacular vistas, stunning sunrises and sunsets, and excellent photo opportunities.

3. Djemaa el-Fna, Morocco

Djemaa el Fna, the world's most dynamic town square, serves as a reminder that you are in Africa. Snake-charmers, henna artists, storytellers, date dealers, and orange juice merchants set up shop in the midday heat of Marrakech's old city.

while night sets, the merchants are joined by tribal drummers, ladyboy dancers, and mobile restaurateurs offering excellent grilled meats, bread, and salad, while smoke rises over their booths until beyond midnight.

4. Sossusvlei Dunes, Namibia.

Sossusvlei means "the gathering place of water," but you'll need to carry your own if you don't want to become dehydrated at Namibia's most famous attraction.

The dunes formed over millions of years as a result of debris flowing from the Orange River into the Atlantic, transported north, and then back to land by the waves.

Climbing the dunes provides stunning vistas, including the Deadvlei, a ghostly expanse of dry, white clay interrupted by the skeletal remains of old camelthorn trees.

5. Mountain Gorillas, Rwanda

A close encounter with mountain gorillas in Rwanda's forests will leave an indelible impression. Various operators provide trips to track silverbacks and their troupes through the deep jungle.

The Nyungwe National Park, which covers over 386 square miles in southwest Rwanda, is an isolated location with an elevation of more than 6,000 feet. Tourists may encounter a diverse collection of monkeys while also traversing East Africa's tallest canopy.
